Guest sentiment
A snapshot of what local diners frequently mention about this location.
"Had the chance today to try Home Touch Kitchen and it is an African restaurant. I must say it was WAY better than i expected. I had the cassava meal with fufu and it was delicious, it has so many layers of flavor with the chicken, turkey, cassava, and all the spices. The owner was very kind and personable as we sat and chatted about business and his time in Ghana. What an experience he offered me. This is a small restaurant that you don’t want to sleep on. Step out of your comfort zone and come support an amazing family and restaurant."
"The other day we went out to try our local Afro Food for the first time and it was pretty good specially the fufu and palm butter stew, it has a little heat to it which I like and I’ll be back to try more other things. And we would also like to thanks Anna for paying for our meal that day we will diffidently pay this kindness forward."
"1st thing's first........ Delicia was the waiter and omg I loved her customer service, and I loved the food !!!!!! This place is 100 % waaaayyyyy better than other African spots I've visited here in Des Moines. Nice and clean environment, NO bugs flying around as you eat like the other place has, multiple choice of Beverages, and my family and I had Egusi with delicious soft fufu . Alcohol is served here too beer: Modelo, wine coolers: Bahama momma, strawberry daiquiri. Soda: coke zero, sprite, ginger beer, Water and more...... easy to find parking behind the building, but it can be difficult to park if busy...... I WILL BE COMING HERE MORE. The total experience was awesome! Also yes highchairs available for your little one. I have discovered handicap parking is available, this place is convenient to gas stations, convenient to more restaurants, barbershop, and more."
"Decided to be adventurous and went here 2 weeks ago. The food was AMAZING ordered the Fufu and Egusi. I only gave atmosphere and service a 2 because it was not applicable to me. I rate this a 10/10 and am actually going back tonight."
"This is my first time trying west African food, and I cannot be more impressed! The fufu and pepper soup was full of flavors, and it was such a fun experience! Amazing service too! Highly recommend!"
"This is everything I wanted and more. My friends and I have been craving fufu and elusive for a while and this place came up on our radar from TikTok. Food was excellent definitely recommend the fufu and egusi, fried tilapia, and plantains. The owner was kind and attentive. I will definitely be back soon. Great food and service!"
"We saw them on tik tok and decided to guve them a try. The food is absolutely delicious! Served hot and full of flavor. My husband got the casava soup and rice . I got the fufu and egusi. The meat literally fell off the bone. The chef was so friendly and sweet. We will def be back."
"Food is amazing, always! I personally love the egusi soup, cassava, and potato greens with fufu. I wish the portions defended the price point, but I understand prices are a bit high as this cuisine is not regularly found in many other restaurants. Kudos to the owner for always being kind in interactions as well!"
